TRR 352 Winter School 2026

A week of mathematical physics in Kochel am See

From March 9 to 13, 2026, the CRC’s Winter School on Mathematical Physics took place once again at the Georg-von-Vollmar-Akademie in Kochel am See.

Over the course of five days, participants gathered for an engaging program of lectures and discussions covering a broad range of topics in mathematical physics. This year’s invited speakers were Vojkan Jakšić (Politecnico di Milano), Benjamin Schlein (University of Zurich), Emanuela L. Giacomelli (University of Milan), and Katharina Schratz (Sorbonne Université). Their courses addressed subjects including the correlation energy of the dilute spin-1/2 Fermi gas, the Minus First Law of Thermodynamics for quantum spin systems, Bogoliubov theory in many-body quantum mechanics, and resonances as a computational tool.

As in previous years, the Winter School provided an excellent opportunity for exchange between junior and senior researchers in a relaxed and inspiring setting. The courses were also streamed via Zoom, allowing additional participants to join online.

The program was complemented by time for informal conversations and outdoor activities in the surroundings of Lake Kochel. One free afternoon also featured a football match, adding a welcome change of pace to the week.

Further information, recordings, and lecture materials are available on the Winter School website.
